Lucy decided she was going to stay awake the ENTIRE night last night. I'm pretty sure she's cutting her upper canine teeth right now. Whatever the case, every time we put her in her bed she would shriek and shriek until we picked her up. As soon as she was out of her crib it was party time--she wanted to watch movies and read books. At 4:30 I was laying on our couch while Lucy watched Robin Hood. As I drifted off to sleep I had the thought, "It's a good thing that Lucy isn't nearly as destructive as she used to be. I'll just close my eyes for a second." A few minutes later I became aware of Lucy saying, "Medthin, medthin." When I opened my eyes I saw that Lucy had dumped an ENTIRE bottle of Children's Motrin all over our carpet and couch. Let's just say that I was less than nice when dealing with the situation, and I feel like a horrible mother today. Here's hoping for a better night's sleep tonight.

oh Laura! That is so not fun. I honestly think it is nearly impossible to be a good mom without enough sleep. I feel for you and I am sure you were still a good mom. Hopefully tonight will be better.
I'm pretty sure the only time I KNEW Owen was teething was when he cut his canines. They're the WORST. Man, I'm sorry about that! I love how Lucy says "medicine" though. I had to say it out loud a few times. Hahaha! Good luck tonight. I'm sure it will be better.
You should NOT feel like a horrible mother at ALL!! You are awesome and patient.... just sleep deprived sometimes. Every mother has had their moments:) Hope you get a better night sleep tonight!!
Oh, Mercy! I probably would have locked myself in the bedroom and let Ben deal with the aftermath.
Please sleep tonight, Lucy!
haha would you hate me if i said i laughed when reading this? these things are always more funny and fun to hear when it's not YOU. lucy is just SO cute and so sweet ... how can you get mad at her? haha, just kidding. i would have not been very nice either! i hope you get better sleep tonight!
dont beat yourself up. You and I were never very good at being super nice when we didn't get enough sleep. thats the wonderful thing about kids. they are quick to forgive. At least she didn't drink the medicine :) I will pray we both get a full night tonight.
i love this story. it's a good thing you were only verbally abusive or i would have to make a phone call...
