Chattanooga, TN...

While Jordan had time off over the break we wanted to check out Chattanooga, Tennessee.  It is only a 90 minute drive and we had heard good things about it.  We went with our good friends, the Shelton's and had a great time.  Chattanooga is such a cool city.  They have really revitalized the downtown and is very family friendly.  We stopped at the footbridge that spans the Tennessee River to take some pictures.

Lucy and Noah love each other.  Lucy wakes up every day and asks me if Noah is coming over to our house.  If these two ever get married, we have all sorts of great pictures for their wedding video.

 Josh and Kristen getting crazy.
 How cool is this bridge?
After taking pictures we went back downtown to Lupi's Pizza for lunch.  The pizza was fantastic.  After lunch we visited Coolidge Park.  When it's warmer they have fountains for the kids to play in.  However, it was FREEZING the day we went, so no water.  The kids had fun playing on the statues anyway.

At Coolidge Park there is a 100-year-old carousel with hand-harved animals.  The rides were $1, so we let the kids ride a few times.

Considering I get motion sick even looking at a carousel, I sat this one out.  Kristen joined me.

After Coolidge Park we went to Clumpie's Ice Cream parlor.  Everything was homemade and delicious.  We will definitely be going back to Chattanooga!

Guess Who's a Sunbeam Now?

Watch out world.

New Year's Eve....

It was a party. The end.

Savannah, GA

Since moving to Georgia I have been dying to go to Savannah.  Savannah is four hours south of us, and so full of history, good food and beautiful architecture.  Jordan had an inventory count on New Year's Eve in Savannah, so we decided to make a weekend of it.  We packed up the kids Saturday morning and headed out on the open road.

Upon arriving, Savannah was everything as beautiful and charming as I had imagined.  Old Oak trees with Spanish Moss, historic buildings, quaint public squares, etc.  Our first stop was the Bonaventure Cemetery.  Some of the original colonists are buried here.  The cemetery itself was so beautiful with it's Victorian influenced headstones.

Little Gracie is probably the most famous grave in the cemetery.  She was the six-year-old daughter of a hotel owner that was famous in Savannah.  When she died, a sculptor created this headstone and she has been famous ever since.

We ate at Vinny Van Go Go's Pizzeria in City Market one of the nights we were there.  The pizza was fantastic and absolutely worth the wait.

My favorite thing we did was take a 90 minute bus tour of the city.  I highly recommend it!  We learned so many interesting things about the history of Georgia and Savannah.

Lucy's favorite thing was watching 'Super Why' in our hotel room in her undies.  All of the historical stuff was less than interesting to her.
It was such a great trip.  I would definitely get a babysitter next time, considering the city is not very kid friendly.  I can't wait to go back sans kids!

Merry Christmas 2012!!!

Christmas Day 2012.  What a day.

We wondered if this was the year that Lucy would wake us up at 6:00 AM, breathless with the excitement of opening presents.  When 9:30 came and went, Jordan and I couldn't wait any longer, so we went in and woke her up.  Apparently she's still not really getting it.  Oh well.
All Lucy asked for this year was a pink teddy bear and a Care Bear show.  She stuck with this through the entire month of December.  She was THRILLED when she opened her teddy bear from Santa Claus.

This was my big present this year.  I have been LONGING for a KitchenAid since we moved here to Georgia and all I had was a hand mixer.  Happy day!
Jordan's presents included a backpack and a backpacking tent since he was just made the Scout Master.  This Scout Master business is quickly turning into an expensive proposition.
We made our traditional ebelskiever brunch and then cleaned up.  That night we had the Sheltons and the Yoasts over for Christmas dinner.  Josh cooked a fantastic turkey and I made a Christmas ham.

Merry Christmas!
