Don't let it fool you.
I had one of those baptism by fire moments tonight. While eating her dinner, Lucy filled her pants. When I took her downstairs to change her I realized that she had blown poop all the way up her back and down her legs. The problem was after setting her down, there was now poop all over the changing table and there was no way to get her onesie off without getting poop all over the rest of her. After taking her onesie off, she had poop all over her back, down both legs, covering her arms, and in her hair. To make matters worse she kicked her legs down on the poopy diaper, and got poop on both her feet. What to do? I couldn't remove her from the poopy changing table and set her on the bed all covered in poop. So I began the wipedown of the century, all the while trying to keep Lucy from putting her poopy feet in her mouth (quite the feat!). After getting her sufficiently wiped down, I carried my naked baby like a football while running bath water (and while trying to keep her from sucking on my very bacteria-ridden hands). Five minutes later I had a squeaky clean baby. I have to admit I was very proud of myself. I managed to laugh throughout this entire ordeal. Oh the joys of motherhood!!

You should be so proud of yourself! I just wish it was on camera! What a mess.
But that face would fool me. She's too cute for words!
Good job, Laura!! So been there!! ha ha She's adorable!
That's hilarious, I wish I was a fly on the wall during that!
oh awesome! Don't you love these moments?! I'm glad you've learned to laugh though because I think that is the key! You are a darling mom!
Oh Laura Laura, while I am proud of you, there is still so much more to come. Just wait until you have the "my kid threw up ALL OVER me" story. At least you didn't gag, Brad has many a times and I just laugh at him. Keep up the good work!
It's a good thing that most of us never stop to consider this sort of thing before we decide to reproduce or we might not have the courage! Infancy is, to a large degree, all about bodily emissions! This made me laugh out loud and brought back memories of YOU as a baby. I'll say no more . . . Love ya, Mom
That was a pretty good story! I once cut a onesie off of Grace rather than smear poop everywhere, but it was just a white onesie that I didn't care about. It's so much better when you're able to laugh about it, don't you think?
You survived the first of many blowouts from hell! Congratulations. All you can do is laugh in the moment. Don't worry, you'll become a pro at them!!! Love you.
p.s. give Luce a high 5 for me!!
welcome to the club! and, just so you know, that won't be the first time that happens!
and way to be positive. you can't help but laugh. yay you!
oh, and it took me a while to figure it out, but most of the time when the pooping up the back happens it's because the diaper is too small. so move up a size and see if it happens again. i share this with you so you will not have to endure this incident anytime again soon. just speakin' from experience. :)
Oh Laura, this post made laugh! It brought back some memories. The only thing that will top this experience will be when she does this when you are out in public and it will only happen when you don't have a change of clothes for her! :) I have bought more than one outfit for my kids due to faulty planning and poor preparedness...
