Flooding Woes...

When you buy a home built in 1966, you can pretty much plan on things breaking. We have quickly learned the woes (and joys) of home ownership in the short time we've lived here. It all started when our A/C unit leaked water throughout the middle portion of our basement. Jordan and I pulled the carpet back, ran the dehumidifier day and night, and everything turned out okay. The carpet just needed to be restretched into place. However, two weeks later we ended up with a much bigger mess on our hands. The pipe leading to our washer got clogged and consequently GALLONS of water flooded throughout a different portion of out basement (our laundry room and Lucy's playroom). We had a plumber come, and he ended up reflooding the place when he tried to fix the problem. Once again, we pulled up carpet and started the dehumidifier and a bunch of fans. We had some disaster cleanup guys come in to check for mold, and give us a quote on what it would cost to put everything back together. We found out that it wouldn't cost us much more to just replace the carpet, so we decided to just grit our teeth and fork out the money for new carpet. This has been the state of Lucy's playroom for the last month.

The laundry room floor was disgusting after the flood.
Jordan decided to lay some water-proof laminate and I LOVE it. I feel like it warms up the room considerably.

Our new carpet was finally installed yesterday. We couldn't be happier to reclaim our basement!! No one is more happy than this little girl.
Jordan got off work early (7:30) tonight, so we celebrated by having a pizza picnic on our new carpet.
Life is good.
