It's really hard to try to blog about things that happened so long ago, but I really want to document our experiences. In early July, Jordan came to me and said that he had been thinking. There had been an upswing in the housing market in Atlanta, and Jordan thought that we could sell our house and make some money. My parents had asked if we would come housesit for them while they were serving their mission to Scotland. At first we didn't consider it, but the more we thought about it we realized that this was our chance to get out of debt. Our hearts broke at the thought of leaving our life in Atlanta, but financially speaking we just couldn't say no. Before we left we had all sorts of things to cross off our Atlanta bucket list. The first being a trip to Stone Mountain for the summer laser show with our good friends, the Sheltons.
Next, a trip to Amicolola Falls.
Lucy had her first trip to the dentist right before we moved. No cavities!
We took one last trip to Zoo Atlanta with friends.
And I said good bye to Caleb, my favorite "speech" friend.
Our last weekend in Atlanta, we headed up to Rome, Georgia for a rodeo with the Sheltons. It was HOT and HUMID but we had a grea time anyway.
Kristen arranged a going away party for me at a Mediterranean restaurant. They had a belly dancer who tried to teach me some moves.
Then, it was moving time. Jordan's brother Clark, and his parents came out to help us move. We picked up our Penske and got to work.
After loading the truck we hit up Turner Field for one last Braves game. What would a Braves game be without a Holman and Finch burger?
One of the hardest good byes was to our friend, Dot, across the street. "Dot Dot" was our Georgia grandma. Our kids loved her and it was so hard to say good bye to her.
After we had everything moved out and the house cleaned I walked from room to room and cried my eyes out. It was so hard to leave our first home at 2000 Starlight Drive. So many memories there.
Lucy saying good bye to her cousins, William, Jonathan, and Emma. We loved living so close to the Hales!
Jordan left with the moving truck on Tuesday morning, but I stayed for three additional days with the kids at the Shelton's. On my last night in Atlanta I wanted to do something epic. Is there anything more epic than a Jimmy Eat World concert in a small venue with your bestie??
All I can say is....best.concert.ever.... Seriously. I rocked out so hard that I mostly peed my pants.
The next morning I flew to Utah. It was so hard to leave. A part of my heart will always be in Atlanta.
