A Visit From Jenny....

I know I already mentioned this in a previous post, but we were lucky enough to have Jordan's sister, Jenny, come visit.  I felt bad that I wasn't mobile enough to really show her around, but we still managed to do a few fun things.  We showed her the Georgia Aquarium....
...took her to a Braves games...

.....swam at the pool, and did a lot of hanging out and talking....
Thanks for coming Jenny!!  We miss you.

30 Week Shot....

Well, here it is.  All 30 weeks of me.

Helen, GA

Jordan's sister, Jenny, flew into last Wednesday and we've been showing her around Atlanta.  Last Saturday we took the recommendations of several people and headed to Helen, GA.  Helen is about two hours away from our house and the drive is beautiful.  About an hour out of the city you start to get into the "back woods", if you will.  Jordan insisted on stopping at this roadside stand to get some boiled "boled" peanuts.  If nothing, this guy made the long drive worth it.  He was as country as they come.

Helen is a re-creation of an Alpine village nested in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  It was fun to see the German architecture throughout the town.  Even the streets were cobblestone.  After driving through the town, we parked and then stopped for lunch.
My knockwurst and red potato salad lunch.  Yum.
 Lucy and Aunt Jenny.
The Chatahoochee River floats through Helen, so a popular activity is "shooting the Hooch" on a tube.  There were crazy amounts of tubers.  We stood and watched them for awhile.

My favorite stop was the Hansel and Gretel candy factory.  Lucy was thrilled with her chocolate covered marshmallow.

After shopping around, we drove three miles outside of town to a beautiful state park.  There was a lake with white, sandy beaches and some great picnic spots.  My guess is that Helen will be beautiful this fall.  We will definitely be going back to take advantagae of the state park.

The "Worax"

In May we took Lucy to her first-ever movie in a theater.  The Lorax.  Or, as Lucy calls it, "The Worax."  She was so enthralled with the experience that she hasn't stopped talking of it since.  Imagine her excitement when she saw a commercial showing that 'The Lorax' was coming out on DVD!!!  After explaining to her that the movie wouldn't be available for a couple of weeks, she hatched a grand plan.  She informed me that we would go buy the movie, watch it on the nice upstairs TV, eat popcorn on a blanket, and her friends, Leah and Noah would be joining us.

How do you say no to that?

Every day she would ask me if we could go buy 'The Lorax'.  We counted down the number of sleeps until the movie became available.  Unfortunately, Lucy threw a huge fit the night before her Lorax party, so we had to delay the party by a day.  She was devastated, but extremely compliant the next day so she could earn the privilege back.

Finally, the day arrived.  We drove to Target with her friend Noah to buy the movie.  I wish I had filmed it.  It was quite possibily the happiest moment in Lucy's life.
The movie came with this Lorax mustache. Lucy has been carrying it around ever since.  She even sleeps with it.

I hope Lucy maintains her breathless excitement for life.  What a fun age!

3 Year Old Pictures...

I have been meaning to get updated pictures of Lucy for awhile now.  When our friend, Josh Shelton, offered to take pictures we jumped at the chance--especially after we saw some of his other work.  Lucy was surprisingly compliant (probably because she is unabashedly in love with Josh), so the pictures turned out perfect!  If you're interested in some great pictures, check out his website here.  These are some of our favorites:
